Why engage in group therapy?
Group therapy offers the opportunity to build a supportive community, increase self-understanding, and engage in identity exploration and acceptance. Engaging with others who share similar lived experiences allows for the processing of emotions and challenges in a safe, empathetic environment. It provides the benefit of multiple perspectives, enhancing self-awareness and personal growth. It is also often a more affordable option than individual therapy, making therapeutic support more accessible.
My approach to group therapy is centered on building a foundation of shared group agreements to ensure a safe and respectful space for all participants. I prioritize following the clients’ lead in discussions while providing gentle guidance and direction to maintain focus and support the group’s goals. Additionally, I emphasize the importance of addressing and processing group dynamics as they arise, fostering open communication and enhancing the group’s collective growth and understanding.
I have experience facilitating therapeutic groups for adolescents and adults. Below are my current group offerings:
Gender identity & expression exploration support group
Note: This group currently has a waitlist
I am currently recruiting members for my support group for adults (18+) in California who are in the beginning stages of gender identity exploration. This group is a safe, nonjudgmental space for participants to share, process, and receive support around the nuances of gender identity exploration and the unique experiences of existing in and navigating the world as a someone who is questioning their gender identity and/or expression.
The group will take place via Zoom on Thursday evenings from 5:00-6:00pm. It is a small, closed group wherein sessions build upon each other every week. The fee for each 60-minute group therapy session is sliding scale ranging from $40-$80 a session. During the screening call, you can let the facilitator know what fee within that range feels doable for your unique financial situation.
