Welcome

My name is Iain Jasko (he/they) and I am an Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing services in Berkeley and San Rafael, CA as well as virtually!

I hold a deep passion for supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and specialize in working with transgender & gender-nonconforming teens and adults. As a trans-identified provider, I bring a firsthand understanding of the challenges and nuances of identity exploration, allowing me to offer empathetic and affirming support to a diverse array of individuals. I am skilled at supporting clients in navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, concerns related to neurodivergence, life transitions, and interpersonal relationship concerns.

I approach therapy through a relational lens & place a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship as a catalyst for change. I understand that past relational experiences often shape current patterns of behavior and emotional responses– so I aim to focus on creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their values & goals.

Supporting you in reflecting on formative experiences, navigating current challenges, and embracing your many strengths and identities would be a true privilege. If you feel we might be a good fit, I invite you to reach out to schedule a free 20-minute virtual consultation so that we can collaboratively explore your therapeutic needs, preferences, and goals.

My approach

While I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities, my work is mainly centered in a relational, psychodynamic, attachment-based framework. Sessions with me often aim to connect your past experiences with current life challenges and involve collaborative problem-solving to identify how you can make choices in relationships that better serve you. I understand that past relational experiences often shape current patterns of behavior and emotional responses; so I focus on creating a safe and supportive environment where my clients can explore their innermost thoughts and feelings. I also support clients in “zooming out” to deconstruct societal messages and systemic barriers that may be contributing to their presenting concerns to empower clients while decreasing shame.
